Rocks Station Lab
Looking for a fun way for students to recap everything they learned about rocks? Try out this station lab! (Students should have a basic understanding of rocks and the rock cycle prior to this lesson). This activity is low prep and great for blended learning. A computer are needed at one station (see description below).
In this activity, students will rotate through 8 rock stations:
Station 1: At this station students will identify 2 igneous rocks using a dichotomous key (pictures are provided if you don't have samples).
Station 2: At this station students will identify 2 sedimentary rocks using a dichotomous key (pictures are provided if you don't have samples).

Station 5: At this station students will label a rock cycle diagram.
Station 6: At this station students will go on virtual field trips to 3 different locations around the world and identify which rock types are present. Computer access required.
Station 7: At this station students will analyze a half life graph (absolute age).
Station 8: At this station students will analyze stratigraphy images (relative age).
