Ocean acidification lab
This lesson and lab teaches students about ocean acidification and the impact it has on marine life. Over the course of the 3 day lab, students will see first hand the effects of acidification on seashells (carbonate). This can be used during an oceanography unit or when teaching about the carbon cycle and human impact on ecosystems.
Included in your purchase is:
- A 22 slide powerpoint presentation that teaches students about ocean acidification, future projections, and what we can do about it.
- A 6 page ocean acidification lab (2 pages are student lab worksheets and the remaining pages are teacher directions and answer key). This lab takes a total of 3 days.
Materials needed per group: 3 beakers, water, salt, vinegar, pH paper or probes, 3 seashells, graduated cylinder, and an electronic scale.
