Product Details
How do volcanoes produce such different looking rocks and vastly different lava flows? In this inquiry based lesson, students will observe 4 volcanic rocks (pumice, obsidian, scoria, and basalt) and make inferences on how they exited the volcano. (Bonus if you have samples for students to observe, but pictures are provided if you don't). Students will also observe 4 types of lava flows (pahoehoe, aa, pyroclastic flow, and pillow lava) and make inferences about how they formed.
