Product Details
If you are teaching a unit on oceans and ocean floor geography, this is a fun interactive activity! During this activity students will map a simulated model of the ocean floor in a shoebox without being able to look inside. You will need to prepare for this lab by collecting shoeboxes (1 per lab group) and assorted items to create an ocean floor model (cardboard, toilet paper rolls, water bottles... stuff from the recycling bin!) While it will take some time to prep the boxes, you can use these year after year.
Needed materials per group:
- Ocean floor model in a box
- Wooden skewer
- Metric ruler
- Scissors and glue
Included in your purchase are 2 versions:
- Version 1 is great for middle school. Students will take limited measurements and create a 2D model.
- Version 2 is great for high school. Students will take numerous measurements and create a 3D model.
